About
Countless is a two-player virtual card game about unleashing powerful combos on your opponents.
Each player has two cards. On their turn, a player can:
- use their consumable
- trigger a combo
- swap a card
- use a card
Click on the consumable or combo button to use them. Drag any of your cards to any of your opponent's cards to add them together. Your card will then become the sum of those two numbers, minus 10 if it's above 10. For example, adding a 7 to a 5 would produce a 2.
The first demo includes 5 combos. In later updates, you'll have to pick 5 of your unlocked combos to have available for each match. These combos are:
- 0 + 0: Immediately ends the game.
- 8 + 8: Resets all cards to 1.
- 5 + 7: Attacks your opponent twice.
- 5 + 5: Gives you a consumable shield.
- 6 + 6: Gives you a consumable potion.
The 5, 6, 7, and 9 are special cards. You can use them by double-clicking, but beware that this will "break" the cards. Broken cards cannot be used, both in general and in combos.
- 5: Passive shield. Blocks one attack before breaking.
- 6: Potion. Double-click to heal one heart.
- 7 and 9: Blade and Hook. Double-click to attack your opponent, costing them one heart.

Countless has been in production for over a year, with hex4 doing the programming and InfiniteDiamond doing the art. It's being made with the wonderful free-and-open-source game engine Godot, and its art made in Piskel and Aseprite.
We use the beautiful, vibrant EDG64 palette in our pixel art.
We've used the great track "Limit 70" by Kevin MacLeod as placeholder music, which coincidentally means that this game's soundtrack lines up with the lane markings on US highways when you're going at exactly 70 mph.
